Mr. Mila - Art
Luis Mila was born in Montreal, CA, but grew up in Miami, FL. At an early age, Mr. Mila developed an interest in drawing and painting. He spent hours on end sketching and drawing whenever he could. He credits both of his parents for his creativity and his passion for art. During high school, he received many athletic baseball scholarships in which he accepted to become a NCAA student-athlete. During his four years playing college ball, he studied art with a concentration in graphic design. After completing his athletic eligibility years in Mississippi and Kentucky, he decided to return home to his roots to complete his degree in Studio Art- his first career passion. After graduating from Florida Atlantic University, he pursued his career in education.
Mr. Mila’s teaching aspirations began as an intern at the Museum of Contemporary Art in North Miami (MOCA), where he worked with summer campers in graphic design as they created the MOCAzine. This experience lead Mr. Mila to pursue a career in education and teaching. He was eager to share his passion and knowledge for creating artwork. Mr. Mila says, “it’s seeing students’ ideas come to life that makes me look forward to being in the classroom.” Mr. Mila’s belief is that art is an exorbitant part of our youths mental and social development. On his free time, he continues to create artwork using a variety of mediums and enjoys fishing. His future goals are to continue to mold his art students so that they may strive for greatness, and hopes to one day teach at the collegiate level.
Mrs. West - Art
Mrs. Moncada - Art
Hi, I’m Mrs. Moncada I’m originally from Colombia, and I have lived in Florida for the past 16 years. My interest in art began when I was young; at first, I loved cartoons and animation, but as I got older I found my passion for painting.
I have a Bachelors in 3d Animation, however, my last semester before I graduated I took a painting class, and I fell in love with oils. I decided to go back to school and get a fine arts degree as well as a minor in education.
As a teacher, I want to help my students reach their potential and help them follow their dreams.
